Serging Sisters Apron Class - Lexington



We are cooking up some serger fun for St. Patrick’s Day and Easter. Come join the fun as we create Baby Lock’s Sassy Little Ruffled Apron. This project combines various techniques that guarantees to show off your serging skills. And, it’s just in time for the holidays! As a bonus, bring copies of your favorite recipe to exchange with classmates. See you soon!


Techniques:
3 thread Overlock
Pintucks Rolled Hem
Flatlock
Differential Feed/Gathering

Feet:
Regular Foot or Clear Foot (Optional – Gathering Foot)

Supply List:
Serger, cord, foot petal & manual with threading instructions.
Size 80 & 90 Needles.
FrayCheck or similar seam sealer.
Seam ripper, tweezers, Bodkin, etc.
General serger/sewing supplies AND scrap fabrics for testing techniques.
Thread: 3 spools regular serger thread 2 spools 12 wt Decorative Thread (Filane works well)
Ribbon: Optional – for weaving with flatlock.

Skill Details:
Requirements: Pre-Class Instructions: Fabric: One Yard Small Print AND One Yard Large Print OR 2 yards same color/pattern. From One Yard (your choice) of Print or Solid cut the following: 1. Top - Two sections (top and top lining) cut 14.5 wide x 11 inches each for the top and top lining. Please be sure to read the Notes below. NOTE: Top will be trimmed to 13 inches wide. If you want to make top wider, cut at least 1.5 inches wider than desired width plus 1/4 inch for side seams. NOTE: Suggest you cut lining to match top after you have done the decorative stitching. (Lining can also be cut using a different fabric, like a nylon.) 2. Skirt Section - Cut one 32 inches wide x 19 inches. From One Yard (your choice) Print or Solid cut the following: 3. Waist Band Belt - Cut Two 14 inch long x 1-1/2 inches wide. (If top/bib has been adjusted larger, as in Step 1, increase length of Waist Band Belt from 14 inches to match the length of the top/bib.) 4. Pocket and Pocket Lining - Cut Two 15 inches wide x 9 inches tall. 5. Belt Ties - Cut Four 33 inches long x 2-1/2 inches (Cut belt ties longer, if needed.) 6. Neckband - Cut One 30 inches long x 2-1/2 inches wide. (Will be trimmed as needed) 7. Ruffle - Cut Two 4 inches wide by width of the fabric. For extra thick ruffle, cut 3.
