Fit, Fashion, and Fun with Judy Kessinger (GREENUP)

We are excited to welcome Judy Kessinger, educator and designer, to teach for three days in Greenup.  Judy will be at the Greenup store April 20th through 22nd.  She is the owner and creator of the FitNice System, and is a reputable educator of garment construction!  If you want to use a Serger to make clothes this is the event for you!


Fit to Fabulous Funday

Thursday, April 20th

The first day of class Judy will be lecturing on the topic of fitting.  The information covered will help students understand how fitting works, and some of the points of pain when it comes to getting your measurements.  Judy will be bringing a trunk show of garments so students can get inspired.


There will be time to ask questions during the Q and A portion of the lecture.  


The most important part of this day is personal fittings!  Judy will measure each students, and consult with them about their fitting issues!


Serger Blouse/Jacket

Friday, April 21st

The serger blouse can be made with any fabric!  Both short and long sleeve have finished edges-on the serger- so no hemming at all!  The finished edges will be done with decorative thread.

Supply List for Class
FitNice Master Top Pattern
2 yards Pattern Ease
1 1/2 - 2 1/2 Yards 45" wide Woven Fabric
1 Yard French Fuse
Matching Heavier Thread for Serger- Filaine is recommended ( 2 spools)
General Sewing Supplies.

Fabric Suggestion: Any lightweight Cotton.  For jacket use a bit heavier fabric.  You can use quilting cotton for this project.


Serena Jacket

Saturday, April 22nd

This easy to make jacket uses two yards of your favorite knit fabric, and thread for the serger.  Judy will make the pattern for you, and this will be sure to a favorite you make again and again.

2 - 2 1/2 Yards 60" wide Knits
Matching Heavier Thread for Serger- Filaine is recommended ( 2 spools)
General Sewing Supplies.

Fabric Suggestion: ITY, French Terry, Double Brushed POLY.  Be sure the fabric looks the same on both sides or at least has a nice looking wrong side.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Judy has plenty of experience working with students with basic knowledge. We do ask that students who use their serger in class be comfortable threading their machines.
Requirements: We will have Pattern Ease and French Fuse available for purchase at the event. We can order you serger thread when you know what colors you will need to match your fabric. You will need to purchase your own fabric for these classes.

Instructor Bio: Judy Kessinger started her career owning and operating a small retail fabric store in Louisville, Kentucky. She traveled nationwide holding seminars for Hancock Fabrics for over 25 years, designed costumes for national and international figure skaters and created a fast and easy way to conquer fitting problems for that field.
