Longarm Quilting Services
We are pleased to offer longarm quilting services at both of our locations. (Lexington Ky, Greenup Ky)
Pricing
Our pricing for edge-to-edge quilting is determined by the size of the quilt top. We charge by square inches. To determine the square inches in your quilt top, simply multiply the length by the width. For instance, a quilt top measures 80 inches by 90 inches. 80 x 90 = 7,200. Our pricing starts at 1.5 cents per square inch and goes up from there depending on the free motion or digital quilt pattern selected. Most patterns will be around 2 cents to 2.5 cents. With a quilt top measuring 80 x 90, if you selected the least expensive option at 1.5 cents, then 7200 x .015 = $108. This would be the cost, before tax, for the quilting. Keep in mind this does not include the batting or lining.
Batting
We offer a variety of Quilter’s Dream Batting in store. We do require the batting to be purchased from us. We have multiple samples in store, and we would be happy to help you determine the best batting to achieve the look you want for your project.
Lining/Backing
You are welcome to provide your own lining, or purchase lining from us at the time of drop off. If you opt to bring your own lining, please note the lining must be 8 inches longer and 8 inches wider than your quilt top. Also we do NOT accept used clothing or used bed sheets as lining.
Quilt Preparation
When you leave your quilt with Thomas Sewing Center we will treat the quilt with a high standard of care. We want you to be happy with your finished quilt, and we promise to do the best job possible. With that being said, please be aware machine quilting will not “fix” fullness, puckering, inconsistent seam allowances, improperly measured borders, or the squareness of the quilt top.
Thomas Sewing Center will not perform any alterations to the quilt (fix holes, repair blocks, etc.), and will not press the quilt. The quilt will be loaded onto the frame in the state it was checked in. (If the quilt top or backing has developed slight creases from being folded while waiting to be quilted, we will happily address those.)
We please ask Customers to do the following:
Your backing fabric must be a minimum of 8” wider and longer than the quilt top. We do not accept used bed sheets as a backing fabric.
If the backing fabric needs to be centered, it must have 4” leaders in a contrasting color sewn on all sides.
Trim loose threads.
Quilt top should be pressed and lay flat.
